Learning before buying

I recently picked up a second hand copy of IN THE MOMENT. THE SPORTS PHOTOGRAPHY OF TOM JENKINS.

For the rest of this year I am committing to not buying any more photography gear (with the exception of memory cards as I just put one through the wash....).  I will be buying books on photography to learn the skill and the art rather than purely technical aspects.  While there is a range of photo gear i would love (A used 1DX would be amazing) I want to stretch what i can do with what I have.

If my photography has gotten a bit better in the last four years, almost all of this has been down to improvements in my skill from experience rather than a better camera or lens.  I have used mostly the same gear for three years now.   I still feel i am only using less than half of what the camera is capable of.

Fortunately, learning from the masters is very cheap. I picked Tom's book up for £3.49 with postage included.  This wouldn't even get me a replacement eye cup for my camera!

If you want to know why I want to learn from Tom look below!
